In October 2023 (18), we conducted training sessions for our members in Mpumalanga and Limpopo. By enhancing producers skills to entrepreneurs the training ensures farming business become viable businesses. In this session, financial management (facilitated by Mr. Rameez Fredricks), business governance (facilitated by Adv. Kilowan), and exporting (Iris Fresh) were discussed.

In October 2023 (17), we conducted training sessions for our members in Mpumalanga and Limpopo. By enhancing producers skills to entrepreneurs the training ensures farming business become viable businesses. In  this session, basic principles of management, crop protection, irrigation, and crop loading were discussed. This session was facilitated by Mr. Sewis Van De Horst.

The DFDC-SA had the honour of attending this year’s Fruit Logistica Exhibition in Berlin Germany, courtesy of the Department of Trade and Industry. In attendance is Mr Motala, the chairperson of the DFDC, Mr Dibesho Serage and Dr Job Mthombeni, who are both DFDC-SA board members, however attended the exhibition on their individual business capacity. Mr Motala, the Chairperson had the privilege of meeting the meeting the Ambassador to Germany, Mr Stone Sizani and his delegate.

We had training sessions for our members in the Langkloof area, Mpumalangaand the Western Cape on 25-28 October 2022. The training was to elevate theskills of producers to entrepreneurs, entrenching farm business to beoperated as viable business operations. The focus of the sessions was on Business Governance, Financial Managementand Agro Processing. Our Facilitators, Mr Danny Marinus together with hisassistant Mr Rameez Fredricks, Adv Chris Kilowan and Mr Derich Prigatraveled to these various areas to facilitate the sessions.

Delivery of Mr Andre Cloete's truck at Klein Elzejacht farm in Greyton. MrCloete is one of the benefiaries of the LDS Project with Department ofAgriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, and one of the items thatwere budgeted for was a new truck for his farm needs.

Yesterday we visited Loufontein Farm in Villiersdorp, where Sewis van der Horst, a beneficiary of the LDS program with the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development received two tractors for his farm, amongst other machineries as part of the program. In the pictures we have the farmer with his employees, as well as DFDC Project Officer, Asiphe Kamte and the Department’s Agricultural Advisor, Happy Zulu.

The Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture HoD Mr CM Chunda together with Mr M Dagada who is a Chief Director visited the our offices last week to discuss the expansion of deciduous fruit farmers in Mpumalanga and how the DFDC can mobilise its resources for this expansion. The day started with a meeting at our offices than we proceeded to project visits starting in Defynne Nursery in Wellington and to Motala Farming in Wolseley.
